Artists Biography

Ali Gharib is a German-Lebanese artist. His artworks use a pop-aesthetic mode of expression in multimedia appearances, influenced by his studies of pedagogy (2004-2010) in Cologne and media art (2010-2018) in Karlsruhe as well as by his academic collaboration with Prof. Isaac Julien, Prof. Ingo Günther and Prof. Dr. Siegfried Zielinski.
Gharib’s work is characterized by a critical approach and a shift towards irony and sarcasm. Thesemanifest themselves in particular in the fictional collective Pipiismus (2009) which operates in close proximity to the tradition of Dada, the Beat Generation and the Fluxus movement.
